For my BHG Home Designer Friends....When your Really -
REALLY want a mirror: Simulated Mirror Reflections - NOT a simple
method, but it works!
Step 1
Make sure all of your room editing is complete!
a
Step 2
Save a copy of your file.
Name it something like " floor plan file to be totally destroyed
just to make one stinking mirror"
Step 3
Edit the new "mirror" floor plan...
To speed up the render process.. delete all unseen, un-reflected
areas of your plan.
Delete the wall behind the mirror.
Do not delete the mirror (or items in front of the mirror, that's a
duh, eh?)
b
Step 4
Set up the "reflection" camera as shown in "image b"
Use your deleted wall as the guide line to "mirror" flip your camera
placement on the other side
Eyeballing the placement is fine... but you can save and set the
camera angles if you want exact...
The front camera was set at 190 degrees (180+10)
The rear camera (behind the mirror) was set at 350 degrees (360-10)
Hide the surfaces of the mirror with the "delete surface" tool.
Leave the mirror frame if you can.
Create a "final render" with shadows

Step 5
Edit the photo-
Crop out area within the "frame" in PhotoShop
Step 6
Reverse the image in PhotoShop
Step 7
Create and apply the new texture (set texture to dull, seems to
render the best)

Here is the Raytrace, same view...
